Join ALTO to become part of a leading network of international education industry professionals, get access to our top-level calendar of professional development sessions, networking events and industry information.

ALTO Membership is open to educational agencies, language schools, academic course providers, universities, associations, service providers and the leaders of those organisations involved in international educational travel.

We have 3 membership categories for organisations:

Full Membership

Full Membership of the Association shall be open to educational travel agencies and schools engaged in the activity of sending and/or receiving students on "in country" language and academic courses, and to language course providers offering "in country" foreign language courses. Each Full Member will have one vote at the Annual General Meeting. The annual membership fee is 1590 EUR.

Associate Trading Membership

Associate Trading Membership is open to domestic language schools, language course providers, publishers and other organisations that supply auxiliary services to language travel agencies, operators and schools. Each Trading member will have one vote at the Annual General Meeting after holding membership for at least 12 months. The annual membership fee is 1590 EUR.

Associate Non-Trading Membership

Associate Non-Trading Membership is open to those organisations that do not trade, such as national associations, language teachers' associations, trade associations, official recognition bodies and accreditation agencies. Each Associate Non-Trading Member will have one vote at the Annual General Meeting. The annual membership fee is 399 EUR.

Each Full and Trading member organisation can delegate a Primary member (the main decision leader, President, CEO, Managing Director) and a Secondary member (2nd person in command, appointed by the Primary member) to attend our events and get actively involved with the projects driven by the association. Non-trading members are welcome to delegate their Primary member.

The ALTO Board​ is also committed to:

• Attracting and developing the leaders of tomorrow so as to ensure the succession, sustainability and growth of our industry.
• Working with national and international associations to help provide them with a global perspective on the industry (we have 18 association members).
• Raising the international profile of the language and educational travel industry within the global economy through benchmarking.
